Bring your existing website.
Updated 30 September 2026. Builders change their menus often; if a step looks different, use the linked help article.
Import Website captures public pages and their design, saves available images, documents and media to the gallery, and creates editable HTML and CSS. Your current live website stays online while you review the new draft.
From URL to editable draft
- Sign in to the portal and select the destination website. Pro and Agency owners can first create another website in Websites & team, within their package limit.
- Choose Import Website in Design space or Websites & team. Enter the public URL and confirm that you have permission to reuse its content.
- Inspect the thumbnail, discovered pages and estimated media size. Choose up to 20 pages from the same origin and whether to include media. The first-page estimate is not a complete-site download size.
- Confirm replacement of the current working design. Importing preserves the current live publication. Follow progress through capture, asset saving, draft creation and preview checking.
- Review the report, private preview and imported files in the Asset gallery. Ask the coding agent to change colors, rebuild interactions or connect forms and payments.
- Test desktop and mobile pages, links and integrations, then publish the reviewed draft.
What imports
Public text, page structure, styling, fonts and permitted downloadable media can be copied into local editable files. Navigation between selected pages is rewritten. Images, documents, audio and video appear in the gallery with source metadata. Tracking scripts, embedded applications and source checkout code are removed.
Private pages, accounts, databases, past orders, payment credentials and protected media are not imported. Forms are disabled pending reconnection. Menus, carts and other source-script interactions can need rebuilding; tell the coding agent what they should do. Existing integrations are not silently connected to the source service.
Limits and control
Imports allow up to 20 selected same-origin pages, 200 MB of fetched data and 100 MB per file, further limited by available account storage. The account shares 2 GB of gallery storage and 512 MB of current and published website files. Browser captures and reports expire after 30 days; saved gallery assets follow normal account retention.
Imports respect robots exclusions and do not sign in, submit forms or make purchases. Stop an import from its progress screen. A failed or cancelled import preserves the live publication. Successfully captured gallery files may remain available even if draft creation fails.
